Most people want the same things out of life, for example, being happy, getting along with others, being well informed and educated, having a good job with good pay, and enjoying their free time.
Life doesn’t always allow us to have what we want. Our goals can be jeopardised by the punch’s life throws our way. They can also be jeopardised when we fail to put into place the most obvious simple and straightforward adjustments needed to get us back on track.
It’s hard when our goals are blocked and we can react in unhealthy and unhelpful ways, especially when we feel overwhelmed and desperate to become happier, stronger, more confident and calmer etc. The three important adjustments that will help you to get back on track are:
Sleep
Sleep is the most obvious adjustment and quite simply, if we don’t get enough quality sleep then it doesn’t matter what else we do, we’ll be stuck and struggle to overcome negative thoughts and feelings.
Nutrition and Exercise
If we don’t eat properly (regular eating of a well-balanced and nutritious diet) and take regular exercise, then we’ll lack energy and motivation.
It really is as simple and straightforward as that. Once we recognise these three key elements and put things into place to improve in these areas, we can take on any other aspects of our life that we want or need to change or improve.
Try improving one simple thing today. For example:
Choose to go to bed an hour earlier, or leave your mobile phone in another room at bedtime.
Don’t drink alcohol.
Stop unhealthy snacking.
Go for a walk (or a run) before you settle down for the evening.
Even the smallest of changes lead to the greatest of breakthroughs. Add these changes into daily life, commit to them and you'll look and feel noticeably happier and healthier in no time.
